There was no such thing as any bad omens in the Lucky 13th version of the Kenny Classic.  In a summer that had seen far more than average amounts of rain in New England, July 14th was sunny and hot, and the playing field numbered 132 as things got underway with the shotgun start.

It was a record setting day for scoring in the Classic - never before had the playing field beaten up on the Tradition C.C. so impressively.  In all, 28 of the 32 teams scored par (71) or better, with 18 posting scores of 65 or lower (see scoreboard here).  The low score on the day was a scorching 52 - 19 under par! Shattering the previous KC record for low gross was the foursome of Dennis Booska, Bob Caouette, K.C. Findley and Bob Provost.  Records are not available to verify it, but the staff at the Tradition could not recall ever seeing a scramble score this low in any event they have hosted!  Finishing second with a 13-under-par 58 was the team of Dan Akey, Mike Duclos, George Oulundsen and Mike Rawson, a stroke ahead of the third-low-gross team of John Bonini, Larry Boudreau, Mike Byrne and Dave Colangelo's 59.

The team of Dave Bartini, Jacquie Kenny, Scott Willson and Tim Willson took Low Net honors with their adjusted score of 47.  Brad Mount, Clayton Mount, Glenn Snyder Sr. and Ted Snyder finished just two strokes back with their net 49, while Mark Fitzpatrick, Mike Greco, Kevin McLoughlin and Jeff Whyte nabbed third Low Net in a fourth degree card match with their 52.

Dave Marquis won the Closest to the Pin Contest on #6 with a distance of 3'10", while
Kelly Cerino
captured the lucrative 50/50 prize hole with her distance of 2'7".    Closest to the pin on #7 was Vin Melendez (7'5").  The Longest Drive Contests on #14 were won by Jenny Bourgeois and Bob Provost.

Every member of this year's playing field received a handy soft-sided custom cooler, embossed with the Kenny Classic logo.  They came in handy on tournament day in the 94-degree heat, and more than a few carts were seen with the coolers carrying cold beverages!  Speaking of cold drinks, thanks to the generosity of Nat Griggs and the fine folks at National Funding LLC, the tournament once again featured the famous
"Beverage Oasis."
Strategically located between the #2 and #12 tees, The Oasis provided a wide range of liquid refreshments and respite from the heat for the tournament's playing field!

The post-tournament party on the Tradition's beautiful outdoor patio was a big hit again this year.  The KC Super Raffle prize table was incredibly stocked with over 60 gift packages, ranging in value from $75 to over $300, and many folks walked away with nice raffle prizes.  The silent auction was active, too, with several fine items up for bidding, including an incredible golf weekends at The Samoset Resort and Wentworth-By-The-Sea, weekend getaways to Boston (with dinner gift certificate) and Burlington, Vermont (with skiing), a James Taylor concert at Tanglewood for four (including the picnic basket!), and other great collectibles.

Thanks to all of you, we had a great time, and the event set one more record - this time by raising an all-time high of $15,300 for the Robert J. Kenny Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Clara Barton Camp!  Over the 13 years of its existence, the KC participants and sponsors have raised over $100,000 to help kids with diabetes.  To all of you who were there - whether it was your first or 12th time at the KC - WE THANK YOU!  Please spend some time at this website, checking out the

as well as those of years past, the KC's wonderful Sponsors, Friends, and Volunteers, and the Classic's Hall of Fame which now features an All-Time Kenny Classic Player's Directory. Leave us feedback in the Guest Book - we check it!  Bookmark the site, and come back often!  Hope to see you all for the 14th Annual Kenny Classic on Friday, July 13, 2007!
